Course Overview

This course is designed to provide those attending a comprehensive understanding of the requirements when working at height including the correct use of Personal Fall Protective Equipment (PFPE) and the use of dedicated anchor points. The course teaches how to assess tasks and to then identify the necessary controls needed to allow the task to be undertaken safely.

On the completion of this training you and your team will be able to identify the dangers when working at height as well as understanding key HSE legislation. You will also understand the various categories of PFPE including its characteristics, benefits and any potential limitations.

Course Prerequisites

All trainees are required to be 18 years of age or over and be physically fit with a head for heights.

Who Should Attend?

Those who are required to work within low risk working at height environments such as garage workshops, MEWP baskets, construction sites and factories where access is uncomplicated and anchors are easily identifiable.

  • Key Legislation and Standards
  • Hazards and Risk encountered when working at height
  • Hierarchy of Controls
  • Work categories – an introduction to restraint/position/fall arrest techniques.
  • Equipment characteristics and limitations.
  • Fitting and use of Personal Fall Protective Equipment (PFPE)
  • Personal Protective Equipment pre-user inspection, care, traceability and disposal requirements.
  • Correct care & use of dedicated anchor points (EN795 A, B, C, D & E)
  • Awareness of Syncope - what causes it and how to recognise and deal with the effects
  • Awareness of how to deal with emergency situations – includes requirement for rescue and emergency procedures.
